Show Description
At age 90, Jeannette Rankin tells the story of her life at the center of a turbulent era in American history. Growing up among the extreme winters and equally extreme summers of late 1800s Montana, she campaigned for the right of women to vote, and in 1916 became the first woman elected to Congress. She voted in Congress against America’s entrance into World War One, then cast the only vote against World War Two on the day after Pearl Harbor, and later continued her anti war efforts into the Vietnam era. |
