The annual Footlight Festival celebrates the talents of local playwrights, as well as established one-act plays. This year, The Newtowne Players will perform the following: In Flight of Fancy, a comedy/drama by Louis Felder, an attractive young woman in marketing meets an experienced salesman at an airport cocktail lounge and discusses life in the real world. Directed by Bill Scarafia and starring Steve Fogle and Stacey Park. Local playwright Lois Stephenson’s Losing It! is a comedy about life in a quirky family. Directed by Lois Stephenson and Wendy Heidrich and starring Robin Finnacom, Emily Funderburk, Wendy Heidrich, Jessica Magno, Keith Mervine, and Tim Stowell. Tape, by Jose Rivera, is a bold statement about karma and our perception of the afterlife. Directed by Thomas Esposito and starring Keith Mervine and George Johnson/James LePore. Physical Therapy, by Jean Reynolds, is a comedy that allows the audience to eavesdrop on two old friends as they spend a leisurely evening that ends up revealing some secrets they’ve been keeping. Directed by Bill Scarafia and starring Ellynne Davis and Stacy Oosterink. Words, Words, Words, by David Ives, is a comedy that recalls the philosophical adage that three monkeys typing into infinity will sooner or later produce Hamlet and asks, what would monkeys talk about at their typewriters?
