Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent, and one of the funniest musicals ever written. It takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from the time-tested 2000-year-old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. This unforgettable, hysterical musical has "something for everyone - a comedy tonight!"

Adapted by Jenny Meisinger
Directed by: Beth Sanford
Produced by Aaron Meisinger, Jenny Meisinger, and Thom Esposito
Shakespeare in the City presents Twelfth Night, a comedy believed to have been written for Twelfth Night entertainment at the close of the Christmas season. Though the plot is not specific to the Christmas season, the show is full of presents for the whole family. The play centers on twins Viola and Sebastian, who are separated in a shipwreck. Viola (disguised as a man) falls in love with Duke Orsino, who is in love with the Countess Olivia. Unfortunately for Orsino, Countess Olivia falls in love with Viola thinking she is a man. Add in a singing fool, a big practical joke, characters with names like Aguecheek (pronounced AY-gyoo-cheek) and Belch and you know you are in for an evening of fun and frivolity.
In partnership with Historic St. Mary's City.
